Forget the insane amount of loans I have accumulated. Forget security in my ability to pay rent each month. Forget bragging rights when I get to say "I'm a lawyer" and not have to follow it up with, "...But I'm not doing any lawyering right now." Forget all of the potential benefits of someday attaining a job doing actual legal work.

My real motivation throughout the job search: I'm going to get these shoes when I'm done.

I guess another benefit of more-gainful-than-I-have-now employment is I'll be able to pay for the necessary therapy to address my compulsive shopping problem.
