During my most recent grocery store run (my last in this apartment!), I overheard a dad cooing to his toddler about fig season. This, along with an earlier email from my mother forwarding a fig recipe, encouraged me to try creating something delicious with this mysterious fruit.

As it turns out, I love figs. You know what I love to put on them? Cheese. Boursin cheese, to be specific. Boursin cheese of the "chives and shallots" variety.
Figs and cheese:
Spread a thin layer of olive oil on the bottom of a roasting pan or container.
Put sliced figs onto pan and into oven at 425 degrees for about 8-10 minutes.
Remove figs from pan and put onto plate.
Put dollop (I love that word) of cheese onto fig center and let sit for 5 minutes.
Eat figs.
Squeal with delight.
Eat more figs.
Go grocery shopping.
Etc etc.
