Washing with Olive Oil

health + beautyMaddyComment

Have you heard of this new trend? Some people are completely on board with it but I'm not convinced. The idea is to wash and moisturize solely using essential oils in order to balance out the oil levels in your skin. I think there's some truth to this science - the drier your skin, the more oil it produces, and therefore the higher the potential for clogged pores and breakouts. In theory if you add oil to your skin, or merely cleanse it in a way that prevents the loss of natural oils, your body will produce only the necessary amount and won't over-oil your face. Then your skin will be clear and lustrous and beauteous.

You probably knew this already.

Anyway, it's a real trend and there are articles about it and different methods to try. I don't think it's too far off-base, but I'm also not sure I want to start washing my face with...oil. I think using coconut oil as a hair mask may be as far as I'm willing to go this month in terms of beauty experimentation. You never know though - I might get bored one weekend.

Have you ever tried any of these "all natural" beauty regimens? Did you notice an improvement or were you better off using tried-and-true products? I want to know in the comments!
