Wearables: Summer is the New Black

There's a rumor going around that you're not supposed to wear black in summertime, but as someone who often doesn't abide by the "no white after Labor Day" rule, I'm trying not to listen to rumors. A deep black can add just as much pop to any outfit as a neon or a pattern and is far from being "just" a staple neutral tone. Like any power, it simply has to be wielded in the right way...

This backpack was my "souvenir" from my NYC trip a couple of months ago, and it has blended in to my bag rotation with ease. While not quite as casual as the Baggu backpack my brother got me for my birthday, it adds a little sense of fun that a stiffer leather bag might not. Paired with these leather sandals, this whole look is in the running for my top summer outfit. Assuming I don't get around to making these American flag shorts, that is!

Also, I should mention that this dress is now half off at ASOS - that shop is quickly becoming my biggest downfall.
