21st Amendment | Hot Spot

Since today is Friday (well, it should be, according to when I scheduled this puppy), I thought it would be fun to do an extra Hot Spot post instead of the usual High Five for Friday. I'll have more than enough time to fill you in on all of our Canadian adventures next Friday - and, if you can't wait, you can always check out my Instagram! This week, I want to tell you where you should go for happy hour in about 7 hours.

You should go to 21st Amendment Brewery.

The first thing you should do when you get there is order their Hell or High Watermelon beer. It's light, crisp, refreshing, and it comes with a gigantic hunk of fruit - what more could you ask for? If you're lucky, maybe one of your friends will start hamming it up for the camera like mine did. But that's only if you get really lucky.

Next, you should take your girlfriends (who were supposed to be having Happy Hour Club, not Sitting Down to Dinner Club, whoops!) and sit in the furthest booth in the back, and order dinner. Trust me, you'll still get to see all of the action from your seat... and at least there you'll get fries with your fruit-filled brew!

Camille ordered the special pasta - Farfalle pasta with spicy andouille sausage in a creamy tomato sauce. We all tasted a bite, and it was fantastic.

Evan got them to make her a patty melt even though they usually don't serve patty melts after lunch service has ended - how nice of them! Then, in all our excitement at the end of the night, she forgot her doggy bag. Sad. The half she had was delicious though!

I couldn't resist the thrall of the classic cheeseburger with grilled onions. How can you say no to that (open)face?

Then came the desserts...

IMG_0422

There were four of us, so naturally we ordered three to share. Let me just say, that was a wise decision on our part, as we each had different favorites and yet somehow all of the sugar magically disappeared from the table top. Strange.

The double chocolate espresso truffle pie was good...

...and this pistachio creme brûlée with berries was even better...

...but I'm a sucker for tiramisu, so this Beeramisu (beer-soaked ladyfingers with mascarpone cheese and powdered chocolate) was my favorite of the night.

Yeah, it looks like we couldn't stand the dessert. Worst ever. Never going back there.

Snort.

The atmosphere is jovial and lively, and the high ceilings make for a casual warehouse vibe, but it's also a place where you can sit and have a conversation if that's what you're in the mood for. We should know, that's what we did!

Look at how much fun Val and I are having! Next time, my camera is coming for you, Evan & Camille.

Get your tired-after-work tushes over to 21st Amendment near AT&T Park (it's a two minute walk from the KT line, so no excuses) and enjoy your Friday evening with some great food and great beer!
